Henrikh Mkhitaryan was again great for Manchester United on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur. The Armenian scored the only goal of the game as Jose Mourinho’s men beat Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Mkhitaryan slotting the ball just over Hugo Lloris has seen Manchester United close the gap and, perhaps even more importantly, end a run of Premier League matches without wins which has frustrated fans and Mourinho alike.
Mkhitaryan’s performance against Tottenham was cut short by a Danny Rose tackle, which saw the Manchester United player stretchered off and the Tottenham defender booed for the rest of the match. Afterwards, Mourinho revealed the injury isn’t as serious as it first appeared to be.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have included Mkhitaryan in their European Team of the Week. Each week Gazzetta pick a selection of players from around Europe, ignoring their own Serie A, and Mkhitaryan has found his way in after the Tottenham match.
Former Manchester United player Radamel Falcao is also in the selection, as is Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
