The Italian media have reacted with surprise and curiosity at claims from England that Everton are in talks to sign Ever Banega. English newspaper The Daily Mirror reported Ronald Koeman’s club are in talks to sign the 28 year old because Inter have decided they want to sell the player for around £8m.

Banega hasn’t really been seriously linked with an exit in Italy. He only arrived, on a free transfer from Sevilla, during the summer window and therefore an exit would be rash, even for Inter. The Italian club aren’t exactly known for having patience and being sensible in the transfer market so, whilst it’s not been the talk of the Italian press, a rash Banega exit couldn’t be ruled out.

Should the 28 year old leave then Inter would surely want more than the £8m mentioned by the English newspaper, regardless of new manager Atefano Pioli not using him as prominently.

Inter are always looking for the next shiny thing and, having made a huge fuss of Banega’s arrival, they’d always consider cashing in for the right price.

Right footed Banega can play all the central midfield positions, and has a contract until June 2019.
