Manchester United certainly had good reasons to spend €75m to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, but they probably need another striker option in the long term, especially if and when Anthony Martial leaves the club.

That means Erik ten Hag could still go after a top scorer in the near future, and Fichajes has something to say about it.

They claim that Manchester United are going ‘with everything’ to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.

It’s claimed the Argentine star is the ‘key piece’ for Erik ten Hag to ‘recover the competitive level’ at Old Trafford next season.

According to Fichajes, Inter Milan usually need to sell players to balance their accounts, and that would be no different next summer. That’s why Martinez’s transfer becomes easier.

The report says Manchester United will try to find a deal with Inter Milan, even though it’s not said how much such a transfer would cost.

Martinez has six goals and two assists in six appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, and is currently valued by Trasnfermarkt at €85m.

Even though the Italian media is aware of the rumours about a potential move away from Inter Milan, they don’t seem that confident that the Serie A side are willing to sell.

There’s no strong Manchester United claims in Italy, and this all feels very premature from Fichajes.
