While Marseille are trying to save West Ham’s Dimitri Payet, Lyon have set themselves the challenge of reviving the career of Manchester United’s Memphis Depay.
The Dutchman hasn’t been a part of any of José Mourinho’s squad at Old Trafford since he appeared on the bench for the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on the 19th of November, and the Ligue 1 side are hoping they can sign him in a cut-price deal.
Lyon’s manager, Bruno Génésio, made it clear the Manchester United winger was their ‘priority’ for the January transfer window, while Jean-Michel Aulas explained the deal was ‘progressing’.
Well, Le Parisien on Monday afternoon report the Ligue 1 side have made a second offer for the player, said to be of €15m.
The first, which allegedly stood at €12m, was immediately rejected by Ed Woodward and co., who originally paid upwards of £20m for the now 22-year-old from PSV Eindhoven.
The French newspaper report that sources close to Manchester United say they are considering it, while the player himself is close to an agreement with Lyon, a club he would consider joining.
Now to see if United accept this bid…
