Since Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic left Manchester United, the Red Devils have been linked to a huge number of central defenders year after year, regardless of how many of them have been signed by the club since then.
There are currently over a dozen defenders out there who have recently been linked to the club, and that’s why when analysing Juventus’ situation with the position today, newspaper Tuttosport claims that José Mourinho’s side could be involved in multiple possibilities.
The thing is: Juventus are possibly selling Medhi Benatia soon, as he’s currently unhappy with his situation in the squad. To replace him, the Old Lady are thinking of Matthijs de Ligt, from Ajax. And guess what? Manchester United would be interested in both of them.
Tuttosport writes that the Red Devils, along with Barcelona, are in need of an experienced defender, and that’s why they could end up taking Benatia on a cheap deal in January.
TMW earlier reported the price for Benatia starts at €15m.
De Ligt’s case is more complex, as he would cost over €40m when leaving the Dutch side next summer. Still, Tuttosport says that both Manchester United and Barça could provide competition to Juventus in this case.
With so many names linked every week, it’s hard to think of the case that makes more sense. Maybe both would do, in case José Mourinho is really interested.
