Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is still delighted about the goal he scored in the 3-2 win over Southampton last week.
The Brazilian’s strike was crucial for the Red Devils to make a comeback against the Saints, in a game which has put the club back in the top four of the Premier League.
Now Pereira claims this was the most important goal since he’s started playing at the club’s academy. It was also the first he’s scored in the Premier League.
“It was the most important goal of my career,” Pereira told Globo Esporte. “It was the first time I scored in the Premier League at the stadium where I grew up. It has a very special taste. It was very important because we were losing and it changed our scenario. I am very happy to be able to help today with a goal and an assist to back the comeback.”
With Pereira’s contract expiring at the end of the season, there have been many rumours, even from the Brazilian media, saying he would leave if he doesn’t get enough chances to play.
Things have been changing a little with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge, so maybe this will have an impact when the time to take a decision arrives.
Regarding starting or staying on the bench, the player has claimed he’s always there when the team needs him.
“We’re here to help United, to take it to the place it deserves. I am always available. We are one of the biggest clubs in the world and our goal is always to win and win the most points. It was a beautiful goal I hope it will be the first of many.”
