Juventus have taken ‘steps forward’ in their efforts to sign Paul Pogba once he leaves Manchester United this summer.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport and Tuttomercatoweb, who say Juventus are leaving the Frenchman hanging on a potential return to Turin.
Pogba is set to leave Manchester United this summer when his contract comes to an end and, at this moment in time, looks destined for a return to Juventus.
He enjoyed his best period as a player during his time with the Italian giants and has retained a strong link to them ever since, continually hinting he would love to play for them again at some point.
That is on offer, and Juventus have held talks with the Manchester United man, but it seems things are not progressing beyond that at this point.
TMW say that while Juventus are ‘moving forward’ and have offered the midfielder a similar deal to Dusan Vlahovic’s, they have not made any more offers beyond that point.
A new meeting with his entourage is planned to get to the ‘heart of the negotiations’ and find an agreement that suits all parties.
Gazzetta back this up, stating that Pogba has been left looking at his phone, waiting for the call from Juventus to come in.
He has ‘said his yes’ to the club and knows he’ll be earning less than what he does at Manchester United, but does not care about that as he wants to return.
The deal is ‘very close to the final step’, although no further meeting with his entourage has been scheduled at this moment in time, and Juve are instead focusing their efforts elsewhere.
That’s despite Pogba having made it clear he wants to return, even speaking to his former teammates about his ‘return home’.
He’s been left waiting for Juventus to make that final step, though, with the Italians ‘in no hurry’ to make it for the time being.
