Arsenal and Barcelona have been pushed forward as Álvaro Morata’s two suitors in recent weeks.

Juventus took the striker on a loan deal from Atlético Madrid, with a buying option set at €35m this summer. The Serie A side are requesting a discount, something his parent club are refusing to provide.

The situation allowed Arsenal and Barcelona to include him in their transfer target list.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have deals expiring on June 30th. Reports in the UK have explained the latter is close to signing a new contract at the Emirates. That, however, will not stop the Gunners from investing on a new No.9.

AS on Thursday have named Arsenal as an ‘interested’ party in Morata as they are ‘very attentive’ to the Spain international’s situation.

Meanwhile, Sport have now come up with a report, titled: ‘Álvaro Morata, close to signing for Arsenal’.

In need of a new striker for next season, Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘betting heavily’ on the former Chelsea man, whose contract at Atlético runs down in 2023.

Arsenal have ‘wanted him for a long time’ and have ‘appeared’ now after Juve refused to make the player’s stay permanent.

It’s stated the Premier League club have made an offer of around €30m for the frontman and are ‘very close’ to securing his services.

Arsenal have also showed interest in Barcelona’s Memphis Depay. If the deal for Morata were to take shape, then it makes it difficult for the Dutchman to move to the Emirates.
