Bruno Fernandes is all over the Portuguese media on Saturday.

The story had gone very quiet indeed, with most of the big claims coming from Italy and Spain, until Tottenham officials rolled up in Lisbon on Thursday.

Spurs interest is very real. A source close to the transfer on Friday confirmed to Sport Witness that talks with the London club are taking place, and that Miguel Pinho, Bruno’s agent, has asked Jorge Mendes to assist him on the transfer.

That would very much suggest there’s no agreed deal with Manchester United.

Indeed, Saturday’s edition of A Bola repeats there isn’t even an offer yet, although they believe that could change quickly. According to their own information, the Portuguese newspaper state a bid from Old Trafford could arrive ‘later this weekend’.

The player is said to be one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ‘main wishes’ for the transfer window, and it’s thought that now Manchester United have Harry Maguire sorted they can move on to Bruno.

Sporting want €70m, and A Bola say United’s offer ‘could be’ as high as that amount, although it’s clear they don’t know.

Real Madrid interest is referenced, but it’s not thought to be serious right now.
