Manchester United have Boca Juniors midfielder Agustín Almendra on a list of ‘possible additions’ although they have not contacted the player about a move.
That’s according to AS Argentina, who report that Almendra is now the subject of interest from David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
Almendra was linked with a move to Old Trafford earlier this week when former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand suggested he should be of one of four signings the club make this month.
It was a link that came somewhat out of the blue, but AS Argentina report there is interest from United in the 19-year-old.
Should Manchester United be seriously keen on Almendra, though, they may have to move quickly to get him.
According to the newspaper, Inter Miami are keen on the midfielder, and his representative in Florida is ‘constantly chatting’ with the leaders of the franchise.
Boca are aware of the interest and have asked for $9m, although Inter would have to pay $15m because of taxes.
That fee is considered ‘very high’ and one that ‘complicates’ any potential deal, although Boca are keen to sell as they need the money.
