Manchester United have joined Arsenal in showing interest in Real Madrid youngster César Gelabert.
Last week we brought a report from Real Madrid fan site that stated the Gunners were working hard to try and lure the 19-year-old away from the Bernabeu.
It was explained they weren’t the only club interested, with Borussia Dortmund and Lyon also said to be in the hunt for the player, who’s considered one of the jewels of the Spanish club.
Manchester United can now be added to that list, with AS reporting they and Barcelona have joined ‘the bidding’ for his signature.
The newspaper offer no information on where United’s interest is at this point, or if they’ve made a bid for him as yet, just that they are interested.
Should they make their move, though, they are likely to face fierce resistance from Real Madrid, who are desperate to keep Gelabert, whose contract expires next summer.
Manager Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of the Spaniard and considers him one of the ‘promising’ young players for the future.
He would have handed the 19-year-old his chance in the first-team before now had it not been for injuries and is likely fight hard to keep him out of the clutches of the likes of Manchester United should they come calling.
