The transfer window may now have closed, at least for most European leagues, but that doesn’t mean all those involved in working on deals get to put their feet up.

There’s already future transfer business to plan for and rough diamonds waiting to be found.

There’s a new name on the list for Manchester United’s recruiters, and that’s Juanlu Sánchez. The 21-year-old plays for Sevilla, where he has a contract lasting until June 2026.

Juanlu is an incredibly versatile player. ABC Sevilla say he can play anywhere on the right side of the pitch, but he’s already played a more central role this season.

He impressed for Spain at the Olympics and it’s thought that may be where he caught Manchester United’s eye. ABC Sevilla report that a representative from the Red Devils spoke to a colleague of Victor Orta.

Orta, formerly at Leeds United, is the sports director at Sevilla.

Manchester United are said to have followed Juanlu throughout the tournament and then asked for further information about him. Whilst nothing went from there and no offer was made, there’s an insistence the interest is real.

One to keep an eye on ahead of next summer, especially if Sevilla can’t secure themselves a contract extension.
