Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino has admitted he hopes Diego Gomez gets his move to Brighton and Hove Albion and predicted a bright future for him.
ABC cover comments from the Inter Miami coach today after Gomez was the star of the show during the international break, with a superb solo goal sealing a 1-0 win over Brazil for his country Paraguay.
The midfielder has also been impressing in MLS, with three goals and four assists in 14 games so far and seven goals and six assists in 32 games in total for the club since joining them in a €2.7m deal in July 2023.
Brighton are long-term admirers and reports throughout the summer indicated they would get a deal done amid their big spending transfer window.
A deal has not been made official, but reports have insisted that the deal is done, and he will join Brighton in the January transfer window once the MLS season is done with.
ABC say that is very much the case insisting that ‘once the MLS is over, the player will travel to England’.
And it seems that is something his current coach hopes is the case, even believing such a transfer will be a ‘small title’ for Inter Miami.
“I hope he goes; he is a player who has a very good present, but an impressive future,” he is quoted as saying.
“If it comes to pass with Diego, it’s also a small title that the club will win.”
