Back over the weekend, when speaking of Palmeiras’ hunt for a midfielder, journalist Jorge Nicola claimed the club were still to get a response regarding Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira.
It was said the Verdão made an approach to the player’s entourage, as they’re interested in signing him on a one-year loan, and were waiting for the Red Devils’ answer.
Now on Tuesday, Jorge Nicola comes up with an update on the situation, claiming Manchester United have finally given their stance regarding the 26-year-old.
It’s claimed that the response was not positive because the Old Trafford side are expecting Pereira to join the squad and be evaluated by manager Erik ten Hag during the pre-season.
Only then will they decide whether to use him, loan him out, or look for a sale.
Nicola then adds that at this moment, Pereira is not a signing Palmeiras are making.
Pereira is still on his loan spell at Flamengo, who actually had a deal with Manchester United to make his move permanent for €10m.
However, due to the poor form he’s been having since the end of last year, the Rio de Janeiro side are expected to give up on the deal.
His contract with Manchester United runs until 2023.
