Manchester United’s alleged pursuit for Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been a quite hot topic in the Italian media, with several reports about this chase coming out in the past few days.
On Monday, it was newspaper Corriere Dello Sport who claimed the Red Devils initiated contacts to know the conditions to sign the striker, who has 17 goals for the Serie A side this season.
Now it’s website Calcio Mercato who shares an update on the race for Osimhen, pointing out that Manchester United have been interested in him ‘for some time’.
The Red Devils’ old interest, however, doesn’t mean their pursuit is very advanced. The report claims their chase is still ‘in an embryonic phase’.
According to the report, Manchester United have not presented an official offer yet, even though ‘the satisfaction is there and it’s total’.
Calcio Mercato says only Premier League clubs could afford Osimhen’s signing this summer, as Napoli are ready to listen to offers which break the wall of €100m.
That certainly takes many clubs out of the competition, but what the Red Devils should be aware is that Newcastle United have joined them in the race, with contacts made ‘in the last few hours’.
