In search of another goalkeeper to back up André Onana, which is a role Dean Henderson doesn’t want, Manchester United have turned their attention to Fenerbahçe’s Altay Bayindir.

This isn’t a new story per se, since there have been a number of reports linking club and player in the past, but this appears to be the most serious move from the Red Devils.

It comes from journalist Gökmen Özcan, who took to Twitter to reveal that Manchester United have ‘offered’ Fenerbahçe a fee of ‘around €7m + bonuses’ for the goalkeeper.

Whether that’s enough isn’t said, but there have been reports in the past about a release clause in the player’s contract.

The details about it have been vague, meaning we can’t pinpoint the exact amount, but it seems to be an easy transfer to pull off and Manchester United have finally decided to go after the 25-year-old.

Should this be accepted, there’s also no guarantee the player will accept playing a secondary role at Old Trafford, as he is the current starter in Turkey.

It will likely all depends on the promises Manchester United make him when discussing personal terms, so we’ll keep an eye on all that.
