Real Madrid and Manchester United are the two clubs linked most with Ajax star Donny van de Beek.
On March 26th, we covered claims made in Spain the midfielder has ‘important offers’, including one from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Voetbal International once again talks about the La Liga giants and the Red Devils.
It’s claimed that apart from Real Madrid interest in the Netherlands international, United are ‘also in the picture’ for signing the 22-year-old.
VI have interviewed the player’s representative, Guido Albers, who has confirmed interest from clubs in signing his client.
“There is interest – and that is also known – for a long time and from several clubs. We will see what will eventually come out of that in the coming weeks,” Albers said.
“I do not dare say anything about that at the moment. I can’t say anything about it because some things are just confidential. The situation will have changed in each club and we have to look at that.”
“The positive thing for Donny is that he is still very good everywhere. For Donny, the most important thing is – and he has always said – a choice based on his feeling. That which he thinks suits him best and which he thinks will be the most successful.
“He did that last year and will continue to do so this summer. Don’t forget that Ajax is still the club where he came to as a young player. It is not a punishment to play for Ajax. He will also include that in his consideration.”
Even though Van de Beek’s agent talks about interest from elsewhere, he refuses to reveal details of those clubs. The possibility of VI receiving information about Manchester United’s interest from Albers cannot be ruled out.
The Dutchman’s current deal at Ajax runs down in 2022 and it’s unclear the fee needed to sign Van de Beek. Albers has also refused to discuss about the player’s price tag, but he admitted Ajax are ready to let his client leave.
“I think Ajax has been very real and has always been good for Donny in order to make a possible transfer,” Van de Beek’s representative added.
“The amounts they are asking for are very real. They did this very nicely, from Edwin [Van de Sar] and Marc [Overmars]. We are, of course, very pleased with that. I do not think their position changes, I do not expect any problems. I think Ajax has always been very nice towards Donny.”
