Last June, Manchester United were reported as being interested in Julien Agoumé, originally dubbed the ‘new Pogba’ by the Italian press.
The 17-year-old, who currently plays for Sochaux in Ligue 2, has been on the list of many clubs for some time now, including Everton, who were ‘pushing’ to sign him ahead of the summer a month or so ago.
However, the Red Devils don’t appear to have given up yet, as L’Equipe on Friday claim both Manchester United and Manchester City recently travelled to watch the young midfielder, which his side lost 4-0.
A regular in the first-team since the end of December, the youngster is contracted to Sochaux until 2020, meaning this summer could be instrumental in his career going forward.
A move to either Old Trafford or the Etihad would surely mean him having to play in their club’s reserves for a while before having a chance at first-team football, even with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his love to give youngsters a chance at the helm.
Manchester City were also mentioned in the February report, although Everton and Barcelona appeared to be in the lead at the time.
Nothing appears to have come of it just yet, meaning there’s still hope for both Manchester sides.
This could end up being one of the quieter sagas going forward and one we’ll definitely keep an eye out for.
