In June, claims came from Spain that Aymeric Laporte wanted to leave Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

The player then publicly rubbished the report, but that only saw the journalist involved insist his story was absolutely correct and insinuate Laporte wasn’t being straight in his public comments.

Since then claims about a potential exit have continued, and Monday’s edition of Sport again pushes Laporte forward for a move to Barcelona.

Despite the money problems at the Blaugrana, the Catalan newspaper is of the belief something will be done in the final days of the market, and Sport are of the opinion a defender, such as the Manchester City player, should be given a higher priority status.

Once again it’s stated Laporte wants to leave Manchester City, and there’s now the suggestion of Barcelona trying to loan him. That would be a much better scenario for Barcelona’s finances, although it doesn’t feel like a great deal for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Laporte started the weekend match against Norwich City, and played well in a 5-0 victory.

The Spain international may be the dream defensive signing for Barcelona, at least as far as Sport are concerned, yet it feels like hope rather than expectation at this stage.
