Manchester City have made an attempt for the signing of Efe Sarikaya from Turkish side Altay, it’s been revealed.
Technical director Tuna Uzumcu was interviewed this week by Radyospor (via Fanatik), and among the many subjects he commented on, there was the situation of the young defender.
The club chief revealed that there have been three offers for Sarikaya, with one of them being from Manchester City, even though the numbers weren’t disclosed.
He also claimed, however, that Altay, who currently play in the second division, are not looking to sell the player anytime soon.
“Efe Sarıkaya is 17 years old and a football player who is open to development. Efe went to England last week and played in the youth national teams,” Uzumcu told Radyospor.
“Official transfer offers from Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla clubs came for Efe Sarıkaya. However, our player is open to development and we have not accepted the offers at this stage.”
This isn’t the first time Manchester City’s interest in the 17-year-old is commented by the Turkish club.
Back in January, their manager Sinan Kaloglu had already claimed that the Premier League side got in touch with their club president to speak about the player.
Then in February, we saw local reports claiming Altay were playing hard in the talks, as they are fighting to get a fair amount for the youngster’s departure. Perhaps that’s why this new attempt from the Cityzens wasn’t successful.
