Manchester City are in the picture to sign RB Leipzig star Joško Gvardiol in the summer.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Europe and that’s seen him attract interest from other clubs, including the Citizens and Bayern Munich.
This latest report comes via Sky Deutschland, who mention Manchester City after explaining the Bavarian club’s stance on signing the defender.
Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg says the Bundesliga winners have asked about the Croatia international. The problem for Bayern is that he’s too expensive.
Gvardiol has a €110m release clause valid from 2024. Sky don’t mention the fee Pep Guardiola’s side or any other club have to pay to take him away from Leipzig in the next window.
On May 23rd, Bild stated the German club are ‘ready to talk’ with Manchester City about a possible sale of the player, if the Champions League winners were to make a €100m offer for him.
With Sky now stating Guardiola’s side are ‘in pole position’, it remains to be seen whether they will spend big to bring Gvardiol to the Etihad in the summer.
