Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich is a rumour which grew last week, but didn’t really get a lot of attention in the German media.
That may be considered strange, Sane is a Germany international, a big star in the country, plays for Manchester City and would be joining the colossus of Bundesliga football.
Bild’s Christian Falk, arguably the journalist with the closest connections to Bayern, responded to the rumour on May 17th, tweeting: ‘Because of many requests: I can‘t confirm a offer of @FCBayern for @LeroySane19 @SPORTBILD’
That didn’t rule out interest, something many pointed out.
They say the City attacker is a ‘hot candidate’ for Bayern. It’s pointed out the club were interested before Sane made the move to Manchester, but they decided against a move, feeling they had enough in his position.
Now, the 23 year old playing for the German club ‘seems to be quite possible for next season’. Bayern are considering the swoop, having originally picked out Callum Hudson-Odoi.
However, the Chelsea player has ruptured his Achilles tendon, so may not be fully fit for around a year. That leads to the Manchester City option, and it’s thought Pep Guardiola wouldn’t block a sale.
This pushes the claims forward, and now it’s a case of waiting to see what else comes out of Germany.
