Manchester City have made an enquiry for Atalanta midfielder Ederson as they seek a replacement for the injured Rodri.
That’s according to GOAL Brasil, who report that Manchester City have made enquiries about the Brazilian midfielder but found that ‘the asking price is high’.
They report that Manchester City have shown an interest in Ederson and intend for him to be Rodri’s replacement as he recovers from an ACL injury that should keep him out for the rest of the season.
A consultation was held to find out ‘what would be necessary’ to get the 25-year-old out of Atalanta, particularly in the January transfer window.
The Italian side responded to that, making it clear that they are not willing to open negotiations for anything less than €50m. Manchester City are yet to make a decision on whether to move forward with negotiations.
This, though, is the third report of this kind this week, with two from Italy making it clear that Manchester City are keen and potentially ready to move.
They had Ederson’s asking price at €60m but GOAL’s understanding is that it is €10m less than that. Don’t be surprised if the actual price is right in the middle.
Either way, it’s a big sum, even with the vast fortunes available at the Etihad, and it seems City are now deliberating on it before their next move.
