Looked at by Patrick Vieira to help bolster his OGC Nice attack, Thierry Ambrose won’t be playing in Ligue 1 next season, but in the tier below.
Touted to join RC Lens back on July 11th by L’Equipe, the Manchester City U23 star is now one step away from moving to the north of France, according to the same newspaper.
The deal taking Ambrose to the French club will be a loan without a view to buy, meaning he will return to the Etihad next summer regardless of how well he does at Stade Bollaert-Delelis next season.
The French striker was seen as something of a revelation during his loan spell at NEC Breda last season, and will be hoping to continue that form going into his new club.
Lens struggled last season, finishing a disappointing 14th after coming as close as a team can to promotion to Ligue 1 the previous year.
Ambrose is expected to arrive on Wednesday afternoon to sign off on his loan deal.
