It seems that, slowly but surely, Pedro Obiang’s transfer back to Sampdoria is happening, even if Manuel Pellegrini isn’t entirely thrilled about it.

Explaining that if the Spaniard were to leave, the club would have to replace him, the Chilean manager suggested he also wouldn’t stand in the 26-year-old’s way.

That could be because, according to Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday, Obiang has already had a chat with his new manager, and asked him to allow him to return to his former club.

West Ham’s demands for the midfielder remain at €12m, and, as things stand, Sampdoria are yet to meet it.

The Italian newspaper explain the Serie A side have only offered €10m, which isn’t enough, but there is enough optimism floating in the air to suggest a deal will be sorted out soon.

Il Secolo XIX also agree that €12m is what West Ham are asking for, but believe a deal could probably be done at €10m with some percentages of future fee thrown into the mix.

We’re getting there…
