Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez has once again hinted he would love to join Manchester City in the future.
The Mexican arrived at the Dutch side from CF América in a £13.5m deal last summer.
He established himself under Erik Ten Haag last season and has continued to enjoy that status this season as well.
His performances in the Netherlands, and particularly in the Champions League, have not gone unnoticed either with Tottenham and Wolves having been linked with moves earlier this year.
That’s something he’s now doubled down on, revealing that Manchester City are his favourite club.
“I would love to achieve that (winning the Eredivisie) one day,” he told Voetbal Zone.
“And after that, it is a dream of mine to play in the Premier League one day. Manchester City is my favourite club, so that would be perfect.”
Of course, dreaming of getting to Manchester City and actually signing for them are two very different beasts, and Alvarez has work to do for the latter.
Fortunately for him he’s only 23 and playing in the Champions League, meaning he has ample opportunity to showcase his talents and catch the eye of City’s scouts.
Indeed, with Fernandinho getting older and Pep Guardiola’s love of signing midfielders, this year could be the perfect chance to make the dream happen.
