FC Utrecht are still working on a deal for Manchester City youngster Daniel Arzani, with work permit complications having held up the move.
That’s according to Voetbal International, who say there is confidence from both sides that a deal will be done sooner rather than later.
Arzani has spent the last two seasons on loan with Celtic but has managed just 33 minutes of football in total as injuries have limited his chances.
He’s returned to Manchester City this summer but, given the quality in the squad at the Etihad, playing time is unlikely to be on offer under Pep Guardiola.
Thus, another loan move makes sense and FC Utrecht were linked with a transfer at the beginning of July.
At the time it appeared the deal was close to being wrapped up, but there has been little information about it since then.
VI – cited by Voetbal Primeur – explain why today, stating that problems surrounding Arzani’s documents, specifically about whether Utrecht can arrange a work permit for the Australian, have held up the move.
That issue still needs resolving, but there is confidence that he will make the move from Manchester City at some point.
Indeed, VI claims that the Dutch side are ‘still counting on Arzani to join the group quickly’, indicating that both clubs feel the complications in the move can be overcome.
