If, like many others, you don’t have a lot to do, then you might have perused an article we published on Monday where we looked at some interesting claims regarding a potential Manchester City Brazilian swap.
The idea came from Gazzetta dello Sport, who were hinting that Douglas Costa could be used by Juventus in an attempt to try and lure Gabriel Jesus to Turin.
We questioned it, wondering why Manchester City would want to let the heir apparent to Sergio Agüero go and replace him with an injury prone winger nearing his 30s, but it seems Corriere dello Sport have heard something similar to their competition, at least when it comes to Pep Guardiola’s interest in the Juventus forward.
According to them, the Etihad club had ‘already tried to snatch’ Costa from the Serie A champions ‘when he wasn’t on the market’, and now that he is, ‘the idea can become topical again’, especially ‘if the option of an exchange (with Gabriel Jesus) heats up’.
That being said, there remains the big question mark hovering over the Premier League club’s future in UEFA competitions, and it’s explained their manoeuvres are ‘pending, waiting to understand how heavy the sanction can be at international level after all the appeals’.
We still think it’s all a bit of a stretch, at least when it comes to the part of Gabriel Jesus heading to Juventus, but, as we pointed out on Monday, we are also very aware anything can happen in football.
