Eddie Howe would look to sign Jefferson Lerma for Everton should he secure the managerial position at Goodison Park.
That’s according to the Colombian edition of Marca, who say a loan deal could be on the cards for the midfielder.
Lerma is expected to leave Bournemouth this summer, having stayed with them after their relegation last season in the hope they would make an immediate return to the Premier League.
That never happened, and Marca say he is keen to ‘continue competing at the top level’ after a year in ‘hell’ in the Championship.
He has ‘several offers on the table’, and according to the newspaper, two of those teams interested are in England.
One of them would be Everton, who would be keen on a loan deal if Eddie Howe was hired to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
He signed Lerma for Bournemouth, and one of his ‘requests’ at Everton would be to link up with the Colombian once again.
They’re not the only side keen, though, as we’ve said, with Galatasaray and Valencia thought to be at the front of the queue.
The Turkish side are said to be the frontrunners and have already made a formal proposal, while Valencia are also keen, courtesy of new coach José Bordalás.
Now Everton could be in the mix, although it all seems to depend on whether Eddie Howe can somehow get himself the vacant manager’s job.
