Jordan Veretout’s future has moved back into focus over the past few days, and the rumours are edging the midfielder towards the exit again.
A good performance from Veretout in a friendly had opened up a conversation among Aston Villa supporters about whether the Frenchman could stick around next season, even after all the comments he’s made which make it clear that’s not his aim.
Real Betis rumours were then started by French newspaper L’Equipe, and then calmed somewhat by the local Seville media, and it’s from France again that transfer claims come on Monday.
L’Equipe claim Saint-Etienne manager Oscar Garcia has telephoned Veretout to convince the Aston Villa player on a move to ASSE.
Veretout wasn’t immediately convinced and, with offers from elsewhere, outside of France, L’Equipe say the Aston Villa player wants a few days to consider his options before giving an answer to Saint Etienne.
Even if that response is positive, Les Verts would then have to agree a deal with Aston Villa, which could be even more difficult.
