On Wednesday, we covered Il Mattino’s claims that Maurizio Sarri’s agent and Chelsea had held ‘not just informal’ talks about the Napoli manager potentially taking over from Antonio Conte, and now Gazzetta dello Sport have a little bit more.

According to the Italian newspaper, Sarri is ‘very intrigued’ by the fact Chelsea like what he has to offer, but he will wait a while longer before making a decision.

A lot will depend on what happens in Napoli’s game against Juventus on April 22nd, which could decide the Serie A title, suggesting that if Sarri ends up leading his team to the trophy, he’ll probably stay on.

The Italian newspaper also briefly discuss the manager’s decision to cancel the lease on his home, which we also covered, but they make it very clear that this was solely for logistical reasons rather than a farewell sign.

With Juventus now out of the Champions League, their sole aim will be to win Serie A for a 34th time, which makes Napoli’s job a bit trickier.

That, and the fact they’re already four points behind.

Good news for Chelsea then, right?
