Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted he played no role in the decision to bring in coach René Maric, who most recently worked at Leeds United.
FCB Inside cover comments from the Bayern boss today regarding various incomings to German club, which include the recent arrival of Maric.
Maric recently made the move to the Allianz Arena after leaving Elland Road in something of a surprise move, taking up the role of a development coach in all of Bayern Munich’s youth teams, as well as the Bayern II side.
He was at Leeds for less than a year, who he joined in July last year as the assistant head coach under then manager Jesse Marsch, and then left after the American was relieved of his duties.
His move to Bayern marks a return to Germany, where he had previously worked as a coach under Marco Rose at Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach.
It seems, though, the current Bayern Munich boss had nothing to do with appointing the Leeds United man, at least if his latest comments are anything to go by.
“I know him from the bench at Leeds and as assistant coach to Marco Rose. I met him years ago,” he is quoted as saying on the matter.
“But these are not topics in which I was directly involved. But it has to be that way. René Maric has been involved in tactical analysis for years. He can definitely give a positive impulse.”
