With Antonio Conte favouring a three at the back formation and a limited amount of central defenders at his disposal at Tottenham, one or two extra bodies in the role are likely to be requested by the Italian manager this summer.
This is something Fabio Paratici will have to work on, and one of the recurring names over the past few months has been that of Torino’s Gleison Bremer.
The defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League quite a bit of late, and while other clubs, such as Inter are circling, money could be key in all this.
Tottenham are said to be expected in any upcoming auction for the Brazilian going forward, while other claims believe Torino are already preparing for his exit, supposedly for €25m, by looking at potential replacements.
Prior to excelling in Italy, Bremer was at Atlético Mineiro, where Thiago Larghi gave him his debut, and the currently unemployed manager sat down with FC Inter News to talk about his former player.
Asked if the player was ready to make the jump to a bigger club, with Inter named for obvious reasons, he said: “Certainly, he can play for Inter: he’s a boy ready to do whatever to improve. He has good technical ability to control the ball, a great ability to pass, so absolutely yes, he can be a perfect reinforcement for the Nerazzurri.”
As for what his best traits are, he said: “He’s strong in one on ones, which is probably his greatest quality, with a strong ability to cover. With him, given his speed, you can play with the high line. He understands the game well at a tactical level, and will be able to improve in attacking to participate in a purposeful game. He’s an exemplary professional. I’m really happy for him for how well he’s doing in Italy.”
