On May 15th, we covered a report from FcInterNews, who explained Inter Milan are in contact with Romelu Lukaku’s agent and Manchester United are demanding €70-80m to sanction the striker’s sale.
Even though their place in Champions League is not yet confirmed, FcInterNews now claims the Nerazzurri are planning for next season, in particular in the attacking division as Mauro Icardi’s future at the club remains uncertain.
On the transfer list put together by CEO Giuseppe Marotta and director of football Piero Ausilio, the former Everton man’s name appears ‘first’ and his agent, Federico Pastorello, is trying to take his client to the San Siro, where he can earn €7.5m per season plus bonuses for the next five years.
It’s claimed Manchester United are open to a sale and are also aware of the 26-year-old’s wish to play for Inter next season.
The frontman’s representative will present the first offer in the coming days and it’s once again stressed the Red Devils value him around €70-80m.
Pastorello will present a proposal of €20-30m plus Ivan Perisic (who is valued between €30-35m) for the Belgium international.
The Serie A club are aware of the Croatian’s desire to play in the English league and they are keen on offloading him in the summer.
It’s clear that Manchester United will be in the market for an attacker, but that does not mean Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will bring in Perisic to Old Trafford, so Inter would be aware it’s a long shot.
They’d likely have to find another way to sign Lukaku, and the suggestion is this one could drag on, also to wait and see what happens with Icardi.
Despite that, Pastorello will meet Ed Woodward ‘in the coming days’.
