The idea that José Mourinho could make a move for Joao Mario, which has been around for at least six months, is rumbling on over in Italy.

The Portuguese midfielder, who spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at West Ham, is set to return to Inter at the end of June since the Hammers don’t have a clause to make the deal permanent.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that with Manuel Pellegrini now in charge at London Stadium with a considerable amount of money to play around with, that could change very quickly.

The Italian newspaper explain the Serie A side will be looking for at least €25m in order to not make a loss on their initial investment, which wouldn’t be too much to ask for clubs like West Ham and Manchester United.

Regarding the Red Devils, Gazzetta explain that José Mourinho is keeping an eye on the situation, suggesting the Portuguese midfielder is somewhere on the Special One’s shortlist as an option this summer.

That’s as far as it goes for now, but there is a belief Manchester United are one of the possible destinations for the Portugal international, and Inter will be following his World Cup avidly, hoping his performances make his price go up.
