After overcoming Club Brugge in the round of 32, Manchester United have been drawn against Austrian side LASK in the last 16 of the Europa League.
The first leg between LASK and the Red Devils is scheduled on March 12th in Austria and today’s edition of Kronen Zeitung claims the midweek European tie could be played behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus crisis.
In the print edition, it was explained that LASK were expecting 690 fans of the Old Trafford club to visit the fixture. However, Kurier state ‘everything points’ to the match being played behind closed doors.
Kronen’s online edition adds it’s still not clear if fans who have brought VIP tickets and media personal will be allowed into the stadium.
UEFA and LASK officials will conduct a press conference this morning Austrian time and most of the unanswered questions will be then clarified.
According to Krone, the fixture is unlikely to be cancelled because Linz mayor Klaus Luger has ruled out postponing any events in the city.
Sky Sports Austria are now reporting the match will be played behind closed doors.
