A starter in the 4-0 loss against Chelsea at the weekend, Everton’s Djibril Sidibé didn’t have the best of times against Frank Lampard’s side.
Widely seen as one of the worst players on the pitch for Carlo Ancelotti, the Frenchman will want to put that performance behind him as soon as possible, and he started doing so by sitting down with RMC Sport on Monday evening.
Currently loaned out by Monaco, the right-back is still unsure as to what his future holds, but it seems he has a preference as to what he wants to do going forward if it were solely down to him.
Asked about it, he said: “I had a talk with the Monaco board. They knew my position, and I know theirs. My goal is to play high intensity games, which is what I discovered in the Premier League. Regarding Everton, I have my position and I know the manager’s. I don’t know if they will trigger the clause. Down my end, all the lights are green, the manager likes me, he trusts me.
“There are parameters that will become relevant and that I don’t have control over with Monaco and Everton. My goal is to win as many games until the end of the season. The Euros are arriving. They want to invest to get a European spot. It’s something that interests me, it’s in what I want and we’ll see what the future has in store for us”.
As commitments go, that’s a pretty big one, and it appears that Sidibé is thoroughly enjoying himself at Goodison Park these days.
Since his arrival, the defender has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees, managing five assists along the way.
There is an option to buy at €14m in his loan deal, which cost €2.5m in the first place.
