Over the weekend, we were blessed with numerous articles covering the recent claims by Rai Sport, that Jorginho’s agent was in Manchester to talk with both Manchester United and Manchester City about a potential summer transfer.

This was first reported by TuttoMercatoWeb on Friday, which we covered here, and we pointed out the representative could have just been there to watch his client play for Italy against Argentina at the Etihad that evening.

However, that was never going to stop the rumours, and Il Mattino over the weekend helped fuel the fire with their own take on the matter, solely involving the Red Devils.

According to the Italian newspaper, Manchester United have been ‘preparing an important offer for some time’ to try and convince the Brazil born Italy international to move to Old Trafford in the summer, instead of renewing with Napoli.

With two years left on his contract, the Serie A side aren’t exactly in desperate need to get him to sign on the dotted line, but adding a few extra seasons to it would certainly help them in their bid to drive up his price.

The longer the contract, the more money you can ask for. It’s very simple.

The question here is: is this Manchester United interest real, or is the agent just playing mind games with Napoli to try and get his client a better deal?

That’s exactly what the same newspaper ask on Monday, stating Joao Santos, his representative, is waiting for Premier League offers, while Jorginho would prefer to renew with Napoli.

It’s going to be an interesting next couple of months.
