Under contract at Manchester City until 2020, Thierry Ambrose remains one of the clubs more promising prospects when it comes to the striker position, and he’s reminding everyone of that during a loan spell at NAC Breda in the Eredivisie.

With 10 goals and six assists in 28 appearances for the Dutch side, the 20-year-old has shown he’s managed to recover from a long-term injury to his knee ligaments, and is back to finding the back of the net like he used to for Manchester City’s reserves.

Ambrose was invited by SFR Sport on their show Le Vestiaire to talk about his season, but he was also asked what it was like to train under Pep Guardiola, something he did prior to his loan when he was invited to prepare himself with the first-team.

He said: “The first time I went to train with the pros, I didn’t know him at all, I was coming back from injury. I wasn’t at my best physically. I was losing a lot of balls. I was also feeling the pressure. For me, he’s the best manager in the world.

“I wanted to show him I had qualities. I was losing lots of balls. He then took me to one side for ten minutes and told me to stop worrying, that he knew what I could do, that he’d seen all my videos. You’ll train a lot with me and you’ll progress a lot. After that talk, my confidence went straight up”.

Sent to Holland to get some first-team action, the youngster is set to return to the Etihad at the end of the season, where Guardiola will undoubtedly sit down and assess what to do with Ambrose next.

Could he be used in some shape or form with the first-team next season? Judging by the promising comments the Spaniard gave his player, that could very well be a possibility.
