Marca’s front page on Sunday isn’t very pleasing for the Real Madrid fans who expected Paul Pogba to arrive at the club this summer.

The Spanish newspaper reports the likely arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax to the Santiago Bernabeu, but practically rules out the signing of the Manchester United star.

The reason is quotes from Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the friendly against Milan.

The manager has said Pogba is not leaving and should be back in training next week, despite rumours of his back injury being an excuse because of an imminent transfer.

Marca says that despite Zinedine Zidane asking for Pogba’s arrival, Real Madrid could never get close to signing the Frenchman. First, because Manchester United said he wasn’t available. Then when numbers were mentioned in the conversation, the English side said he wasn’t leaving for less than €180m.

With Marca being Marca, they say van de Beek is ‘smiling’ over his move, while Pogba ‘cries’ seeing his transfer to Real Madrid getting further away. They say the signing has become ‘mission impossible’, and only a ‘master play’ from Florentino Perez could get things done.
