Following all the recent rumours about Edinson Cavani’s potential return to South America, ESPN Brasil today features an interesting story about the striker’s future.

The outlet managed to speak to people close to the Manchester United player who confirm that he could be soon moving closer to Uruguay.

Cavani is tied to the Red Devils until the end of the season, and according to the story, there’s no wish to leave Old Trafford before that. His staff consider that staying in Europe for now is ‘the best option’ as he’s being frequently used by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Now according to ESPN, things could change in the summer. It’s said that the striker’s entourage only rule out China, while he sees with ‘good eyes’ a return to South America so he can be closer to his home country.

Despite the recent links with Palmeiras, however, it’s said that Cavani’s staff has the most popular clubs in Brazil as his preference, such as Corinthians and Flamengo. Still, they’re set to listen to all the offers.

ESPN recalls that back in 2020, his brother, Walter Guiglielmo, spoke to Flamengo, Palmeiras, Internacional, São Paulo, Atlético-MG and Grêmio, but all the clubs found it impossible to afford his wages.

The story recalls that Cavani was also heavily linked to Argentine side Boca Juniors. This week, club president Juan Roman Riquelme revealed that the striker called him to speak about a transfer at the start of the year.

What seems certain now is that we should see another saga on the striker’s future next summer.
