Following so many reports from the Portuguese media on the future of Benfica star Darwin Nunez, we finally get to see something interesting coming from his home country as well.

It’s Uruguayan journalist Sebas Giovanelli who today features an update on the 22-year-old’s situation, claiming Manchester United and Newcastle are those ‘closest’ to landing the player.

The reporter claims that Red Devils and Magpies are both ‘bidding’ for Darwin, and that puts them in the lead for the Benfica star.

For now, there’s no information on how much Manchester United or Newcastle United have put on the table, or if the bid from one club is bigger than the other’s.

This morning, the Portuguese media claimed that Benfica continue to wait for convincing offers for Darwin.

They want at least €100m to let him go this summer, and in case they don’t receive any bids of that amount, there’ll be no problem in keeping him for one more season.

So if Manchester United and Newcastle are really bidding, they better be aware of the huge valuation the striker currently has.
