Bought by David Moyes and surviving the Louis van Gaal era, Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini appears to be a favourite of José Mourinho’s, and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Turning up when it matters the most this season, the Belgium international has praised his manager multiple times over the course of the campaign, and, currently with his national team before heading out on holiday, had a chat about it all with DH.
Sold by Roberto Martinez, Fellaini reunited with the Spaniard when he took over from Marc Wilmots as Belgium manager, and the newspaper asked him a bit more about his relationship with him since his departure from Goodison Park.
He said: “He trust me and knows my qualities. He plays me as a defensive midfielder, but he knows I can help out everywhere. I like the role he gives me, and he can always count on me. He hasn’t told me to play further up the field. If he does, I won’t say no.”
Furthermore, the Manchester United midfielder revealed something about his transfer to Old Trafford that might surprise a few.
He explained: “He told me he didn’t want to sell me, but I couldn’t refuse Manchester United. I had spent five years at Everton, and I wanted to try something else.”
Since joining the Red Devils, the 29-year-old has made 133 appearances, scored 15 goals and provided nine assists for his teammates.
