Manchester United want Facundo Pellistri to cut short his loan deal at Deportivo Alaves, but it is up to the player whether he does so.
That’s according to Marca, who say the player ‘has in his hands’ the decision regarding his future as part of an agreement in his loan deal with the Spanish club.
That states that if he has not played 1,000 minutes before December, then Manchester United have the option to recall him to Old Trafford.
That was a decision the player was waiting for them to make, with it recently reported he was waiting for those in charge to call him to let him know what their plans were.
They’ve made it clear that they would be ‘happy to see him leave’ and would even prefer for him to return and go on loan in the Championship instead.
Alaves, though, want the youngster to remain where he is, despite the fact he has not been performing to the levels he showed in his first loan spell last year.
Thus, the decision is Pellistri’s to make. He ‘does not want to rush’ into making a choice as he wants to wait and see how much of a chance he is given in the coming games.
His recent lack of minutes against Betis was ‘interpreted as a message’ that he is not wanted and did not go down well with those around the youngster.
If in the following games he plays as little as he has done so far, he could ‘take the final decision’ to return to Manchester and find playing time somewhere else for the remainder of the campaign.
