Juventus, Inter Milan and AS Roma are chasing Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli, according to Il Messaggero.
Apart from the Serie A clubs, the 23-year-old is also attracting interest from elsewhere, in particular from Manchester United and Liverpool.
It’s claimed the Red Devils and the Merseyside club have ‘decided to get serious’ about the midfielder.
According to the report, the two Premier League clubs are studying the proposal needed to beat competition from Italian clubs for his signing.
Il Messaggero are of the belief that both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and the Anfield club have postponed their plans to improve their squads for next season.
They also state the Covid-19 pandemic has seen them postpone new signings, mainly because it largely depends on the next season’s revenue.
Fiorentina, who were expecting to part ways with Federico Chiesa, have now delayed sanctioning Castrovilli’s sale. The latter is valued at €50m.
With such fierce competition for the central midfielder, the likes of Juve and Inter can no longer send one of their own players in the opposite direction to lower the cost of Castrovilli.
There’s every chance Manchester United and Liverpool are being used here to hype the player’s value for Italian clubs.
