Italian website Calcio Mercato has a story about the rise of Lorenzo Pellegrini, who’s been doing pretty well for AS Roma lately.
The outlet highlights the change in the midfielder’s position, which has been making him free to organise the offensive game and really show his creative skills… gaining fans along the way.
Calcio Mercato claims that with his form, many clubs are starting to look at him. The special one mentioned is Manchester United, who were already ‘very interested’ in Pellegrini during the summer window, but the player ‘decided to stay’ in Italy.
Now as the 22-year-old’s contract which expires in 2022 contains a €30m release clause, Roma believe that would be too little for him and there’s a danger interested clubs could easily pay it. That’s why Monchi has already started working on giving him a new deal and extinguishing such a clause.
That’s an obvious situation when clubs like Manchester United would have to act in a hurry, otherwise the player could be protected by a new contract, or some heavy competition could join the race.
