During the Paulo Dybala saga, it emerged that Manchester United were also taking a look at Mario Mandzukic, with reports unable to decide if the Croatia international would be a part of the deal or not.
In the end, it didn’t really matter, as the Argentine’s big move fell through, and the Old Trafford club were, at least according to Italian claims, unable to convince the target man that a move to England at the last minute would be best for him.
However, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t completely uninterested by the prospect of working under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his new look United, as Sport Mediaset hint Mandzukic could wait until January for his Premier League move as offers from Qatar currently land on his desk.
The veteran was excluded from Juventus’ Champions League squad list, much like Emre Can, as Maurizio Sarri made it clear he wasn’t going to count on the striker’s abilities like Max Allegri did, preferring his protégé Gonzalo Higuain in his stead.
The outlet report Mandzukic is ‘evaluating’ the offers from Qatar, whose transfer window closes on September 30th, but it ‘isn’t excluded’ that he could wait until January to capitalise on Manchester United’s interest, believed to ‘still be alive’.
The lack of trust from Maurizio Sarri has played a big part in changing the player’s mindset, who wanted to prove himself to his new manager (hence his refusal to move this summer), and Sport Mediaset state he now has a big choice to make.
Either move to the Middle-East and cash in early or ‘grit his teeth’ until January and wait for a new offer from United.
