When Super Deporte covered Manchester United’s interest in Carlos Soler on Monday, they were quite polite to say the transfer would be ‘complicated’.
The outlet recalled that although the report from England said Manchester United would pay only £30m, the player actually has a €80m release clause. And since Valencia rate him highly, it would be difficult to see him leave for such a comparatively low price.
Super Deporte even spoke to the Spanish club, who officialy claimed that there are no negotiations going on.
But Deporte Valenciano come straight forward, and even use some sarcasm to say the move is possible, with only two conditions: Manchester United need to pay the release clause, and the player must be convinced to move. Take it or leave it.
When the player signed this new contract, Valencia knew his potential and wanted to protect him from the ‘crazy’ clubs who would show up with offers.
The £30m mentioned by the English press is said to ‘not be even close to what the player is worth’, and there’s no way the La Liga side would sell for less than the release clause.
And Deporte Valenciano is pretty certain that Soler is fine at Valencia. Having grown up in the city, the midfielder is said to be ‘living the dream’ by playing for the club, and United would have to work to convince him to make such a move.
We’re pretty sure that after paying €80m, it wouldn’t be much trouble for a club like Manchester United to convince a Spanish youngster to join them. But the confidence in Valencia is pretty high right now.
So, like with any player in Spain, Manchester can sign Soler for his release clause, and after convincing him. Deporte Valenciano, just like Super Deporte, clearly don’t think it’s likely.
