Mourinho vs Guardiola. José vs Pep. Manchester United vs Manchester City.
The hype was big before the two managers ended up in the Premier League, but now, it’s even bigger.
Despite beating the Portuguese manager once again when his City side dismantled, at least in the first half, Mourinho’s United, the former Barcelona coach got a bit of a reality check when Tottenham got the better of his players just before the international break.
While there’s plenty of time for that to happen still, Mircea Lucescu, former Shakhtar Donetsk and current Zenit St Petersburg manager, decided to weigh in on the rivalry and chuck some fuel on the dwindling fire.
He told Dolcesport in Romania, relayed by GSP: “Mourinho is a great guy, but my way of understanding football is completely different as I have an offensive mentality. All my teams have beaten goalscoring records. I like to build.
“Mou might come across as more arrogant than Guardiola, but it’s exactly the opposite. Either way, both are great managers.”
Wait… Saint Pep more arrogant than Red Devil José? *shocked emoji face*
We highly doubt Manchester City fans will care if their manager really is as arrogant as Lucescu makes him out to be, especially if they carry on winning and remain top of the Premier League.
As for Mourinho defenders (who tend to be anti-Pep), well, this might be sweet music to their ears.
