Wolverhampton Wanderers continue to follow Las Palmas youngster Alberto Moleiro but could now face competition from Manchester City for the player.
That’s according to Las Provincias and Mundo Deportivo, who say the Premier League duo are watching the 18-year-old.
Moleiro has established himself as the latest talent to emerge at Las Palmas, with a series of impressive performances for the Spanish side in LaLiga SmartBank this past season.
He’s picked up plenty of suitors as a result, with Barcelona believed to be eyeing him up after their successful purchase of Pedri from the same club.
It seems they will face competition from the Premier League, though, with Las Provincias reporting that clubs from England are ‘keeping an eye’ on his evolution.
Wolves ‘lead the list’ of those interested parties, having become aware of the player last year when their youth side competed with their counterparts from the Spanish side.
This was something we covered at the time, with two reports in August 2021 making it clear that they were interested in Moleiro after he caught the eye against them.
Manchester City are also in the mix, though, according to Mundo Deportivo, who say they are one of the sides to have ‘knocked on’ the player’s door.
They’re all competing with Barcelona, who reports say had struck a deal to sign the midfielder and then loan him back to Las Palmas.
Las Provincias dispute this, however, stating that Las Palmas are ‘still waiting for the proposal’ and that no ‘firm offer’ has arrived for their new diamond as yet.
That gives both Wolves and Manchester City their chance to get in ahead of Barcelona, although the player has reiterated he wishes “stay in yellow for one more year”.
